How does the Swappie selling process work?

Selling your iPhone to Swappie is simple and fully online:

  • Get a Quote: Choose your iPhone model and answer a few questions to get an instant valuation.
  • Lock in the Price: If you’re happy with the initial estimate, lock it in for 14 days.
  • Send Your Phone: Use our free shipping label or request a free shipping kit.
  • Inspection: We inspect your phone to confirm its condition. Inspection may take up to 3 business days.
  • Get Paid: If everything checks out, payment will be issued within 1–3 business days. Please note that it may take up to 5 business days for the funds to appear in your account, starting from the day Swappie issues the payment.

If your phone’s condition differs from your description, we’ll send you a revised price offer first. You can accept or reject the new offer. If you accept it, we will process the payment. If you reject it, the phone will be returned to your home address, free of charge.

Sales Form & Price Estimate #

How do I fill out the Swappie sales form?

To complete the sales form accurately:

  • Go to your iPhone’s Settings > General > About to confirm the correct model and storage capacity.
  • Inspect your phone
    • Remove your case and screen protector.
    • Wipe the screen, sides and back of your phone.
    • Check the phone under good lighting to assess visual flaws like scratches, dents, or cracks on the screen and body.
  • Answer questions about your phone’s condition — whether the screen is cracked, the battery is healthy, or if the phone has been water damaged.

Double-check your contact and payment details before submitting the form.

Providing accurate info helps prevent changes to your offer after inspection.

What affects the estimated selling price of my iPhone?

Your price estimate depends on:

  • The iPhone model and storage size
  • Whether the phone functions normally
  • Battery condition (especially if it’s below 85%)
  • Physical condition: cracks, dents, scratches

Important: Swappie does not buy any iPhones that are MDM-locked, SIM-locked, or still have the Find My iPhone feature enabled.

How do I check if my iPhone is SIM-locked or MDM-locked?

Swappie does not accept SIM-locked or MDM-locked iPhones, so it’s important to check these settings before selling it.

To check for a SIM-lock:

  • Insert a SIM card from a different carrier
  • If your phone shows signal and allows calls, it’s unlocked
  • If not, it’s SIM-locked and cannot be sold to Swappie

The SIM-lock can be removed by contacting your network provider.

To check for an MDM-lock:

  • Go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management

If your phone shows that it’s “Supervised” or managed by an organization, it’s MDM-locked

The MDM-lock can be removed by contacting the company running the Device Management.

Can I trust the price estimate I receive?

Yes, as long as your answers on the online form match the condition of your phone.

If the phone turns out to be in a different condition upon arrival to Swappie, we’ll update your price offer and explain the changes before proceeding with any payments.

How long is my price estimate valid?

After submitting your sales form, you have 14 days to ship us your phone. If the device is shipped within this timeframe, your price estimate will remain valid—provided the iPhone matches the condition described in the form.

If the condition differs, a revised price will be offered after inspection.

In cases where there is an unusually long delay with receiving your sales kit, contact our customer service.

Preparing Your Phone for Sale #

How can I check my phone’s IMEI number?

Before shipping your phone, make sure to write down its IMEI number. Here’s how to find it:

iPhone settings:

  • Open Settings > General > About.
  • Scroll down to locate the IMEI number. (You may also see EID, MEID, or ICCID listed.)

SIM tray:

  • If the tray hasn’t been replaced, you’ll find the IMEI number printed on it.

Check your receipt:

  • The IMEI number is often printed on the original purchase receipt.
How do I check my iPhone’s model and storage capacity?

You can find this information directly in your iPhone’s settings:

  • Go to Settings > General > About
  • Under Model Name, you’ll see your iPhone’s model
  • Scroll down to see the Storage Capacity

Make sure to select the exact iPhone model and correct storage capacity when filling out the sales form to avoid any unexpected price changes after inspection.

If your iPhone doesn’t turn on, you can look up the model and storage by entering its IMEI on an IMEI-checking website. The IMEI is usually found on the original receipt, SIM tray, or Apple box.

If you entered incorrect information, your sale is still valid—our technicians will simply adjust the offer based on the actual model and storage capacity.

How do I deactivate Find My iPhone?

Before sending in your phone, make sure the Find My iPhone feature has been removed. This is part of Apple’s security system, and as long as it is active, the device is locked to your personal Apple ID. We cannot process your sale until Find My iPhone has been disabled.

Here’s how to do it:

  • Go to Settings > [Your Name] > Find My > Find My iPhone
  • Toggle Find My iPhone off
  • Enter your Apple ID password to confirm

If your phone doesn’t turn on, you can disable Find My iPhone remotely using iCloud:

  • Click Remove This Device.
  • Go to iCloud.com and log in with your Apple ID.
  • Click Find My from the home screen.
  • Select All Devices at the top and choose the iPhone you want to remove.
  • Ensure the device is offline before proceeding.
How do I remove SIM-or MDM-lock?

The SIM-lock can be removed by contacting your network provider.
The MDM-lock can be removed by contacting the company running the Device Management.

How do I erase data from my phone before sending it in?

To safely erase your personal data before sending your phone to Swappie:

  • Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone
  • Tap Erase All Content and Settings
  • If Find My iPhone is enabled, you’ll be asked to enter your Apple ID and password to proceed

If your phone uses an eSIM, make sure to also select the option to erase the eSIM profile when prompted.

This process fully wipes your device—removing apps, photos, personal info, and settings—restoring it to factory condition.

What if I cannot erase my data before sending my phone to Swappie?

No worries! In compliance with GDPR (The General Data Protection Regulation) , we run a certified software-based wipe on every device before starting any inspection. Your data is completely erased before the phone is accessed.

Selling Multiple Devices / Business Sales #

Can I sell multiple phones to Swappie at once?

Yes! You can sell several devices in one go. Just submit a separate sales form for each iPhone. You’ll receive a sales kit or shipping label for each device. Important! Do not ship two or more phones in the same parcel. This may pose a serious safety hazard while in transit.

How do I get a quote for multiple devices?

To receive a quote, you’ll need to complete a separate sales form for each phone. Here’s how to ensure accurate assessments:

  • Identify your phone: Go to Settings > General > About to check the correct model and storage capacity.
  • Inspect under good lighting: Examine your device closely to spot any visual flaws like scratches, dents, or cracks on the screen or body.
