If your iPhone shows a message like \u201cPart Not Recognized\u201d or \u201cUnknown Part\u201d in the Parts and Service History section (Settings > General > About), don\u2019t worry – this is completely normal.<\/p>\n\n

This message appears because a part of your iPhone – such as the battery, screen, or camera – was replaced during refurbishment. The OEM [original equipment manufacturer] restricts component verification to its own repair network, so any replacement done outside of the OEM\u2019s authorized service centers will trigger this notification. <\/p>\n\n

How to check your iPhone\u2019s parts and service history?<\/h2>\n\n

If you\u2019re using iOS 15.2 or later, you can check which parts have been replaced on your iPhone by going to: Settings > General > About<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

There, you’ll find the Parts and Service History section\u2014this will appear only if one or more components have been replaced.<\/p>\n\n

  • Unknown Part<\/strong>: This means the part was replaced using a non-OEM component or the system can\u2019t verify the part. It does not affect your phone\u2019s performance, safety, or reliability. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Used Part<\/strong> (iPhone 15 and later on iOS 18): This message appears if the replaced part was previously installed in another iPhone.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Genuine Part: <\/strong>This means the part was replaced using genuine parts and processes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n

    If you are using iOS earlier than 15.2, you won\u2019t see a full parts history. Instead, your iPhone will simply show a message if a replaced part is identified as \u201cUnknown.\u201d <\/p>\n\n

    Will the warning message go away?<\/h2>\n\n

    Yes. Here\u2019s what you can expect: <\/p>\n\n

    • A notification will appear the first time you unlock the phone, and again after five days<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • The message will stay visible in Parts and Service History but won\u2019t affect your phone’s use<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • You\u2019ll still have full access to all features – like battery percentage and display brightness – just like normal<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n

      What should I do if my phone says \u201cFinish Repair\u201d?<\/h2>\n\n

      In some cases, you may be prompted to complete the repair process on your device. This is a quick calibration step and easy to complete. <\/p>\n\n

      1. Make sure your phone is running the latest version of iOS<\/li>\n\n\n\n

      4. Follow the on-screen instructions<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n
